Project SP Devlog #20

Project SP Devlog #21

Hey everyone, I am here to keep you up to date with upcoming changes and features coming to the game in the future.

Level & Options menu

Some of the menus have been redesigned to look more inline with how the tutorial menu looks.

So in the level select and gauntlet stages menu, the design for both these have been made to look more like how the original gauntlet menu looked. Though unlike the original version the name of the stage has been moved above the image, with the level image being shrunk down in scale and the level description still being below it.

The level select buttons, in the level select menu, have been made larger in size but as more levels get added then obviously they will shrink and will fill up more of the space.

As for the gauntlet menu it mostly has stayed the same beside the level info being changed. But I have now grouped the first four levels with levels 1-1 to 1-4 and the will later down the line be changed to be 1-1 through 1-8. Making all of these 8 levels work as a tutorial section of the game.

When the levels are more finalised, the buttons within these menus will be replaced with the image of the level, as seen in the image thumbnail, and will have the text removed. As of this moment though they still have the level name on them.

Now for the options menu, swapping between each has been reworked slightly, with the buttons being made smaller to take up less space. This has also been done with the options setting as well. There has also been some reworking of the code of the options though this more so done to make it easier to manage.

Scoring system

The score system has been made more streamlined to keep a better track of your score. Now all the score data (Kills, Time, Score, ect…) now go though one script, before being shown in the result screen. Orgianly all of the information was called from multiple different scripts making it hard to track, but since the change it should hopefully, in the future, be able to integrate it to some sort of leader board for the game, to keep track of the scores within the levels.

Debug Options

As I said in the last dev log, I was going to add more functions to the debug menu, now you will be able to turn the HUD on or off, if you chose to. Though if you reset the level it will turn back on.

Another thing is when the debug menu is activated, when the results screen is active, you will no longer be able to access the debug menu until restarting the level, as it will turn off.

So a quick summary of everything in this Devlog. Changes to Level & Options menu, Scoring system and Debug options.

Any other change will be added to the patch notes when the next update is released.

Thanks for reading and I hope you continue to enjoy the game.
