Colosseum Shooter Devlog #5


Hey everyone, I am here to keep you up to date with upcoming changes and features coming to the game in the future.

I am still working on the new enemies for the game. So I will go into more detail about them now.

Please be aware that none of the models are textured yet.

Exploding Enemy

As I said in the last devlog, I planned on adding a new regular enemy type to the game. As the name suggests it explodes, it will follow the player and when it gets close it stops moving then detonates after a short while. Shooting it from the front won't do any damage to it, the only way it can be defeated is by shooting it in its back. 

Hopefully these guys will make it so it is harder to camp in one place, as the explosion range is reasonably large.


Snow Chasm Boss

There is not much I can say about this boss that was not already said in devlog #4. Besides that the model is finished for it.


Sewer Boss

So for the sewer boss I decided to go for a spider-like enemy. When it moves around the stage it will drop mines behind it.


The mines work like the Exploding enemy, if you go near them then they explode. These can be destroyed, in one shot, and will be added to the combo score, but not the overall kill score. So if the combo meter is running out, destroy one to replenish it. 

Soroboruo Remodel

Since I was adding in new bosses I went and redesigned Soroboruo, the boss in the colosseum stage. They're design is different to what was show in Devlog #1 and is still one of the longest bosses in the game being over 100 meters in length.


Here is a smaller version of the boss. Please note that this version of the boss will not appear in the game, it's just so that you can see it up close.


Sewers Changes

There have been a couple of changes to the sewers.

First change is that there are now new gates that open when starting the stage. These have been put at the end of the lower part of the stage. I have also made it so that the gate on the left side of the stage no longer opens at the start and now opens at the same time as the waterfall gate does.


Second change is to the right side tunnel. It's no longer a step ramp and has been made into a short path that must be climbed up. There is also a small ledge that you can jump off, in the center.

I still don't know if the enemies will be ready by the next update, as I want to put them all in at the same time. If they are not ready, then it will be small gameplay adjustments and changes to the Sewers. 

So a quick summary of everything in this Devlog. New exploding enemy, model for snow chasm boss, placeholder model for sewer boss, Soroboruo remodel and level changes to Sewers level.

Any other change will be added to the patch notes when the next update is released.
